The London Chess Centre Blitz Championships are back at the Cannon

On Thursday the 13th October, the London Chess Centre Blitz Championships will be coming back to the Loose Cannon. The new format consists of ten rounds, each lasting five minutes. Again, FIDE blitz rules apply.

There will be an interval between rounds 5 and 6. There will be plenty of time during this break to get a bite to eat and a drink from the bar. The prize-giving will follow the last round, which will finish at 10:10pm. The whole event should wrap up at around 10:30pm.

Generous cash prizes are based on a percentage of the entrance fees. There will also be grading prizes (cash or books) for the top player in the following categories:

Ungraded / Under 100 / Under 125 / Under 150 / Under 175

Players will be eligible for grading prizes based on their slowplay ECF grade as listed on the 2008-9 ECF grading database.

The 1st placed player will receive the London Chess Centre Blitz Trophy (donated by Action Trophies). The final standing of players is determined by the number of points scored. If there is a tie, it is broken by sum of progressive scores.
