The London Chess Centre Blitz Championships - 13th August 2009

On Thursday the 13th August, the Loose Cannon will be hosting The London Chess Centre Blitz Championships. The tournament consists of five rounds of blitz chess. Each game can last a maximum of 20 minutes, with 10 minute breaks between each round. FIDE blitz rules apply.

There will be an interval between rounds 3 and 4. There will be plenty of time during this break to get a bite to eat and a drink from the bar. The prize-giving will follow the last round, which will finish at 10:05pm. The whole event should wrap up at around 10:30pm.

The winners will receive a cash prize based on a percentage of the entrance fees. There will also be grading prizes (cash or books) for players in the following categories:

Ungraded / Under 100 / Under 125 / Under 150 / Under 175

Players will be eligible for grading prizes based on their slowplay ECF grade as listed on the 2008-9 ECF grading database.

How to Enter

The fee to play in The London Chess Centre Blitz Championship is £5 per player in advance or £6 on the night. Send a copy of your Name, ECF Rating, Address, Telephone, Email and a cheque for £5 payable to "The Loose Cannon" to: LCC Blitz Championship, The Loose Cannon, 13-16 Allhallows Lane, London, EC4R 3UL.

  • 7:00pm Registration
  • 7:30pm 1st Round
  • 8:00pm 2nd Round
  • 8:30pm 3rd Round
  • 9:15pm 4th Round
  • 9:45pm Final Round
  • 10:15pm Prize Giving
